Jonathan Treible, Ph.D.
Licensed, Board Certified (ABPP)

Jonathan Treible is a native of Rome, New York, growing up in the foothills of the Adirondacks. After training at Cornell University and Binghamton University and working in the biological sciences (clinical laboratory medicine) for ten years, Dr. Treible graduated from the State University College at Oneonta with majors in psychology and German. He attended the Goethe Institute in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany, gaining language competency to study psychology at the University of Wuerzburg and the University of Bonn, Germany, for two years.
He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. 

With six years of post-graduate training in the Gestalt method of psychotherapy, including specialized training in working with individuals, couples and families, he completed a one-year advanced training program applying Gestalt/Systems Theory to working with couples and families and small systems. He is currently expanding his knowledge of working with people experiencing trauma and loss through specialized training. A student of Gestalt therapy for 30 years and yoga for 40 years, Dr. Treible is interested in holistic approaches to therapy and personal growth.  

FOR PROFESSIONALS

A member of the American Psychological Association, the state and local psychological associations NYSPA and PAWNY, and Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), and a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychologists, Dr. Treible has taught psychology at D'Youville College, Daemen College, Canisius College, Medaille College, Buffalo State College and the University at Buffalo. In addition to opening his private practice, he has taught training modules and conducted workshops on stress management, conflict management, health and wellness, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, working through life transitions, pain management, intimacy, applied behavioral analysis and team building. 

He is a member of the Behavioral Healthcare Network, an organization of experienced clinicians in private practice in Western New York. A consultant to Fortune 500 companies in the workplace, he has assisted in conflict management training, critical incident stress debriefing, bereavement counseling and employee adjustment to company restructuring. He also performs premarital  counseling.  He can teach the yoga class recommended by Dean Ornish, M.D. in his program for reversing heart disease. Dr. Treible enjoys vigorous physical exercise, cooking, international travel, and wilderness experiences.

Programs for Therapist Personal and Professional Growth:  

Dr. Treible has experienced the training at each of these marvelous holistic training centers and highly recommends the following programs: 

Gestalt Institute of Cleveland: Gestalt Training Program (GTP).
A two-year basic training in the Gestalt therapy method for therapists. Clinician's Advanced Training Program with certification option (CATCO) is a two-year program leading to certification as a Gestalt therapist for graduates of the Gestalt Training Program. This program begins in March 2018. More information on these and other programs can be found at www.gestaltcleveland.org. There is a short introductory video to the institute on this website for more information, and there are half-day introductory workshops on the Gestalt method at regular intervals in Cleveland.

Yoga Training: 
In addition to the yoga classes, workshops, and seminars at the Himalayan Institute Buffalo, there are ongoing 200- and 500-hour yoga teacher training programs and a training program in Ayurvedic traditional healing. There are programs at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA, as well.
